Should I attend an accredited online college?

Finding the right accredited online college is the first step on a journey to pursuing higher education online. There are many reasons to pursue a college degree or certificate online. For example, you might want to change your career or update your certifications for your current career. Perhaps the colleges local to you do not offer the program you wish to pursue. Online colleges are desirable for many people because you won’t be responsible for attending classes on a specific schedule and you can fit in study time whenever your lifestyle has room for it. When searching for an online college, you'll have a lot of options to

choose from. The top three to consider are Penn State World Campus, Northeastern University and Washington State University Global Campus, which are all accredited and highly-respected colleges.

It is important to make sure that whichever online college you choose is accredited. Accredited online colleges are more likely to offer a high-quality education, ensuring that you receive a degree that is worth the price you’ll pay for it. Accredited online colleges also are more likely to have classes that can transfer to other schools, which means that you can finish your degree at a local school without having to repeat classes. Finally, accredited colleges online are the only online colleges that offer degrees that are worth putting on your resume. If you want to boast about your education, a non-accredited college won’t look as impressive to potential employers.

In addition to the top three accredited online colleges, there are many great, accredited online college programs in the United States. You do not have to be local to these colleges to pursue an education with them. They have low teacher/student ratios and relatively low tuition rates, allowing you to get that degree or certificate without spending hundreds of thousands of dollars.
