Regular, quality childcare is difficult to find whether you live in a big city or a small town. Unless you have a large network to tap, it seems like the best nannies and babysitters are nowhere to be found. Luckily, childcare websites and apps provide access to a range of options in a large price range. At Care.com and Sittercity you can access hourly childcare options or secure help for a longer time frame while AuPair in America provides you with the opportunity to employ a worker from overseas.
Both Care.com and Sittercity rely on a monthly subscription model to provide you with access to profiles of babysitters and nannies in your community. At Care.com, a monthly subscription for families is $39 per month with a discount to $26 per month is offered for three months. An annual subscription reduces the monthly fee to $13. At Sitter City a basic subscription to check out site features is free, but a membership with booking option is $35 per month, $70 per quarter and $140 if you opt for an annual option.
AuPair in America uses a different model because it is regulated by government entities. The match fee for an AuPair is $450, and there is a $8,950 annual fee. In addition, the AuPair must receive a weekly stipend for a minimum amount of $195.75. For the fee, AuPairs work up to 45 hours per week. Additional costs include room and board provided by the host family. If you are unsure which childcare option is best for your family, take the quiz below to sort out your options.
