Should I buy a new laptop?

As anyone can tell you, buying electronics of any kind can be extremely frustrating. Shopping for electronics can be frustrating because they are both expensive and nowadays there are so many different brands and types to choose from. It takes time and energy to find exactly what you need and at a price that you can afford. Like most electronics, laptops have a period of time in which they work properly, and then over time they begin to work less efficiently, slow down or even cease to work altogether. This means that it's either time to replace it with a new laptop, try to get it refurbished or make the move to a tablet PC. Finding out which

choice is better for you requires a little research and understanding what you need.

If you are thinking of replacing your old laptop chances are you haven't gone shopping for laptops in a while. Laptops have actually changed a great deal over the last year or two. Today you can choose from hyper powerful laptops that give you the computing power of a desktop and touchscreen laptops that combine some of the abilities of tablets. There are of course middle of the road laptops that are basically upgrades for older laptops. Replacing your laptop can cost you between $500 and $2000 depending what you need from your new computer.

Another option for you is refurbishing your older laptop. Refurbishing your laptop can do a few things, it can replace broken parts, update existing hardware and software and give your laptop life for another couple of years. This is by far the cheapest option when it comes to getting your current laptop working again. On average a refurbishment will cost you between $100 and $300 depending on how much work you need done.

Another option for you is to switch to a tablet computer. While tablet computers don't have the same processing power as a laptop, or the same level of internal memory as a laptop it does give you a high level of portability and versatility. Tablet computers do tend to cost more than low level laptops but will not set you back as much as a higher end laptop. Tablets are the ideal tool for the traveling businessman, or for someone what wants to be connected on the go. The mobile WiFi that comes with a tablet means that you can be connected to the internet provided that you are in an area that supports 4G connectivity. In the end the choice is up to you.
